"Taiwan? What! Where is it?""Is it Thailand?"

That's the responses when I said to people I'm from Taiwan. 

Taiwan is one of the top 5 safest countries in Asia so you don't need to worry about your safety after you arrive in Taiwan. I think even IS don't know where Taiwan located. The population here is around 23 millions, land area is around 36,000 square km. The capital city is Taipei ( around 3 millions residents).

East part of Taiwan are almost mountains and valleys, you can only travel by train through different cities( Ilan, Hualien, Taidong). Also there are lots of gorgeous landscapes and surfing spots along the east coast.

West part of Taiwan are plains and basins. All the economy activities are in the west part. You can easily travel by HSR(High-Speed railroad)  or train. The length of Taiwan is only 395 square km. From Taipei to Kenting( the southest) only spend you 4~5 hours by driving.

Also there're lots of small islands around Taiwan. If you enjoy diving, go to Penghu, Green island or Orchid island. Taiwan is full of natural resources, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy a lot the island trip.
